“The Saline Seven”, a Destination ImagiNationTM team of 4th graders, is seeking musical talent of all ages for “BAND” Together, a musical talent show to Showcase and Celebrate Saline’s musical talent. The 4th graders want the Saline community to “BAND” Together to raise money for a SMART BoardTM that will be given to the Saline Area Schools. “BAND” Together will be held on February 27th, 6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Saline High School Auditorium.
Seven 4th graders, Derek Liemohn, Alex Mah, Luke Sloan, Jon-Michael Taylor, Hailey Tursak, Peter and Rachel Ward, from Saline are joining forces to raise funds for a SMART BoardTM for the Saline Area Schools. As their Destination ImagiNationTM project, “The Saline Seven”, selected Project Outreach as their Central Challenge. This Challenge requires that they identify a community need and creatively use music to meet this need. The team identified the community need by surveying elementary school students and teachers about SMART BoardsTM. The DI Team concluded that the Saline elementary schools want and need more SMART BoardsTM because Smart BoardsTM make learning more interesting, fun, and effective. The DI Team then met with the Saline Area Schools Superintendent, Scot Graden. Mr. Graden noted that “Smart BoardsTM are a priority for the Saline elementary schools” and stated that he “fully supports the team and their idea to raise money for the Smart BoardsTM”. The DI Team decided to raise about $5,000 to get a Smart BoardTM for the Saline Area Schools by sponsoring a musical talent show fundraiser called “BAND” Together. There will be a $5 admission fee to the talent show.
