Saline DECA took home the district IV conference trophy for the third time in four years and 110 medals at the District Conference January 7, 2010 @ Eastern Michigan University

The Saline DECA chapter had an unforgettable performance during their District Competition at Eastern Michigan University’s Student Center. Saline DECA members took home 110 medals, and qualified 76% of the team. 62 marketing students will attend this year’s State Career Development conference this March. The competition is conducted by having students take written comprehensive exams in marketing and management topics, and by role playing impromptu business case problems with volunteer business professionals. Students may also present written business plans and promotional campaigns for real businesses.

For the third time in four years, Saline DECA took home the District IV trophy for having the highest overall team average on the occupational testing. There are thirteen schools in the district. The trophy has been in this District competition since 1983. Saline DECA was switched from District V to District IV, four years ago. The team has won the trophy in 2007, 2008 and again this year, 2010.

Students must qualify beyond districts, to attend the state and international competition. The District conference is the first of three qualifying conferences. Their next competition will be the State Career Development Conference in March where students will need to qualify to attend the International Career Development Conference held this year in Louisville, Kentucky.
