Operation Christmas Child
October 22nd, 2009 | by funkymonkeys |Operation Christmas Child is a project that sends shoe boxes to needy children throughout the world. Last year over 8 million shoe boxes were delivered to kids in over 160 countries. My church participates in this project every year. Last year we packed over 230 shoe boxes. This year we are going for 500! Things you put in a box are hygiene items (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, washcloth, comb), small toys, school supplies (pencils, eraser, markers, crayons, rulers, glue sticks, notepads) and other things too. I like packing boxes because I am sharing something with someone who has nothing. Many of the children live in dangerous and scary situations, and many of them have been affected by natural disasters. Sometimes it is the only Christmas present they have ever gotten. Boxes are delivered all over the world by car, train, boat, plane, even elephants! It is fun to think about where my box will end up and whose hands it will eventually be in. Would you like to pack a box? I can tell you how! See me if you or your family are interested in information about this project!
